Verreries de Scailmont was a well-known Belgian glassworks founded in 1901 in Manage (Hainaut) by H.R. Hirsch. From 1908 it was led by Georges Sacré. In the 1930s, the factory reached its peak with about 800 employees. In 1924 the factory opened a department for decorative glass. Under the direction of chief designer Henri Heemskerk (who worked there from 1924 to 1951) Scailmont gained great fame for enameled, frosted and pressed Art Deco glass and opaline vases. Designer Charles Catteau also achieved success there for the Paris World Exposition of 1925. Characteristic are colorful layered vases, pressed glass, and Art Nouveau and Art Deco patterns.
