Sardinia

From our selection of collectible minerals we present a remarkable group of Calcite crystals from San Giovanni Mine, Iglesias, Sardinia. Also, it is characterized by large twin and geminated scalenohedra, with the distinctive orange and brown color on a contrasting white matrix, which increases its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for crystallization quality and overall aesthetic balance, with features that enhance its natural structure and visual impact. Calcite is one of the most widespread minerals on the Earth's crust and crystallizes in the trigonal system, giving rise to countless crystal habit varieties, including the elongated scalenohedra visible in this specimen. The characteristic orange-brown color is due to inclusions of iron oxides and hydroxides within the crystal lattice. The San Giovanni mine, in the Iglesiente mining district, is historically famous for the production of lead and zinc and is today one of Sardinia's best-known localities for splendid Calcite specimens and other secondary minerals. This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for anyone who appreciates the natural beauty of minerals, also in the realm of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, with rare exceptions always indicated in the description. The photographs are taken with professional lighting to best highlight colors and details; however, slight variations in shade may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
