Sansui M77 set In nice condition (only a few small scratches on the top of the tuner, otherwise in perfect condition) see photos for a clear view Beautiful vintage Sansui Midi stereo systems from the early 80s. It’s a so-called "midi-system," which means the components are somewhat narrower (usually around 34.5 cm) than standard wide hi-fi equipment. Sansui was known in this period for its reliable Japanese build quality and sleek design. The set consists of three separate components: 1. Sansui T-M55L (Top component) Type: AM/FM Stereo Tuner. Function: This is the radio receiver. It has a classic analog tuning scale that lights up. The "L" in the model name indicates that the device, in addition to the standard FM and MW bands, is also equipped with the LW (Long Wave) band. [1] 2. Sansui D-M55F (Middle component) Type: Stereo Cassette Deck. Function: A more advanced cassette deck for its time, equipped with Full Logic Control. This means you operate the buttons electronically via touch keys instead of heavy mechanical push-buttons. The deck supports Metal tapes (for better dynamics and less noise) and features the well-known Dolby B noise reduction system. 3. Sansui A-M77 (Bottom component) Type: Integrated Stereo Amplifier. It features a Compu Selector (an electronic switching system for input sources) and knobs for volume control, Bass and Treble. The amplifier also has a Phono input for a turntable. This input has a built-in RIAA preamplifier. Plug your turntable into this and don’t forget to attach the thin earth wire (GND) from your turntable to the ground terminal of the amplifier. The Sound and the Reviews: Hifi enthusiasts and audio reviewers on hi-fi forums (such as Tapeheads and Reddit) are generally very positive about this specific Sansui series: the typical "Sansui Sound": Sansui is historically known for a very warm, full and musical tonal character. The sound is by no means cold or clinical, but features a deep, controlled bass and a delicate midrange that makes voices and acoustic instruments sound very lively. The Amplifier (A-M77): Users praise the reliability and flexibility of this amplifier. It has enough power to fill a typical living room and easily drives most vintage speakers. The Cassette Deck (D-M55F): Although high-end tape purists sometimes prefer larger three-head decks with physical VU meters, this particular midi-deck receives good online reviews for its stable tape speed and clear recording quality. (the deck runs perfectly) The Tuner (T-M55L): Reviews describe the tuner as very sensitive. Even with a simple wire antenna, the device can effortlessly lock onto radio stations without static. In summary: This is a highly desirable, compact vintage set. It offers the iconic warm analog Sansui sound without occupying the space of a traditional hi-fi installation. The set will be carefully packed and insured for shipment.
