Salvatore Balsamo (1894–1922) - Porto di Napoli

An antique oil painting on canvas, signed in the lower right, measuring 71 x 94 cm, frame included, by master Salvatore Balsamo, whose market presence is rare and sought after, particularly for views of the Gulf of Naples and depictions of the city’s daily life. Salvatore Balsamo (Naples, 1894 - 1922) trained in Naples under Vincenzo Irolli, Giuseppe Casciaro, and Eugenio Scorzelli. A landscape painter with a robust and spontaneous brushwork, his works are housed in Milan's Gallery of Modern Art and in the art collections of the Fondazione Cariplo.
