Salvador Dali (1904-1989) - Sculpture

Salvador Dali (1904-1989) Eye Building Surrealist bronze sculpture – Edition 21/35 – Lost-wax casting A singular sculpture titled “Eye Building,” made in bronze using the traditional lost-wax casting technique, belonging to a limited edition of 35 copies, with this piece being number 20/35. The work develops a striking architectural and surreal composition in which a large vertical structure appears covered by a rhythmic succession of eyes in relief, creating a powerful sense of surveillance, mystery, and dreamlike reverie. In the lower area, a small construction and a stylized street lamp introduce an urban reference that reinforces the monumental and imaginary scale of the building. The piece especially highlights the richness of the modeling, with a deliberately textured surface, marked by reliefs, incisions, and different bronze treatments that add depth and expressive force. It features an attractive patina in green, bluish, and brown tones, particularly effective in highlighting the volumes and the fantastical character of the composition. The reverse preserves the textures typical of the casting process and presents marks and incisions, visible in the photographs. The sculpture integrates with its own architectural base, forming a unit with great decorative and sculptural presence. Title: Eye Building Technique: Bronze via lost-wax casting Edition: 21/35 Finish: Patina green, bluish and brown Condition: Generally good condition, with slight variations, wear, and surface oxidations inherent to the nature and patina of bronze. See detailed photographs. A work of pronounced surrealist personality and extraordinary visual impact, especially attractive to collectors of contemporary and surrealist sculpture.
