Sagrasse (Sandro Grassetti, born in 1966) is a Marche-born artist whose life roots itself in artisanal craft. For forty years he worked in the shadow of his shop in a small town among the hills of the Marche region, mastering at the highest levels the processing of resin, painting, and chroming. The turning point of his life comes with the COVID-19 pandemic: the forced lockdown and the suspension of time become an emotional catalyst, pushing him to unleash the artistic urgency he had always guarded. What for decades had been “only” a technique of excellence thus becomes the means to give life to modern, vibrant, and ironic pop sculptures. Today Sagrasse has transformed his artisanal know-how into a recognized language of contemporary art, proving that it is never too late to give voice to one’s most authentic talent.
