Indovino Venezia are objects of Italian antique glassmaking and glass collecting, dating roughly to the first decade of the 20th century. Decorated with acid-work, wheel engravings, or theme-based details and finishes. The glasses have a slightly flared shape (inverted cone trunk) resting on a thick and sturdy base with a ring. The decoration is in Baroque style with an engraving of a lady with a cavalier. Vetreria SIVA, founded and based in Venice during the 20th century (with production particularly active and appreciated in the first half of the century, around the 1910s–1930s), the company of Mario Indovino specialized in creating artistic glass and high-quality tableware. SIVA was renowned for its mastery of acid engraving and hand finishes. This technique yielded the characteristic cameo effect, velvety and slightly shaded, perfect for botanical figures, foliate designs and dynamic scenes (such as the juggler/dancer on the balloon goblet). The pieces bore the original paper label: an oval or rectangular label bearing the inscription SIVAM INDOVINO VENEZIA. Highly sought after in the market of antiques and fine art glass collecting.
