Rural transport cart, Spanish Popular School, 19th century

Descriptio Wood assembled with wrought iron elements. An old draft cart used for agricultural transport and farm work, with an open structure, detachable sides, and spoked wheels reinforced with metal rims. The piece retains traces of folk polychromy in bluish and reddish tones, visible especially on the panels and structural elements, adding a unique decorative value to its solid, functional design. The surfaces show pronounced signs of wear, erosion, and cracking resulting from prolonged rural use, while the rusted ironwork and original chains enhance the historical authenticity of the piece. The construction demonstrates traditional craftsmanship typical of 19th-century Spanish folk carpentry, designed to ensure strength and adaptability to agricultural terrain. Its powerful visual presence, the quality of the aged materials, and the historical value of its original function make this piece an exceptional example of rural material culture and ethnographic decorative arts.
