Rupprecht Geiger (1908–2009) - Siebdruck - Sonderausgabe...

This exceptional, hand-signed screen print by Rupprecht Geiger captivates with its intense colorfulness and the artist's unmistakable visual language. The work is signed and dated in pencil at the bottom right, reading “K. C. Geiger 98.” The work belongs to a very rare special edition of the “Calendar 1991,” produced outside the regular edition and in a very limited quantity. These works were personally signed and dated by Rupprecht Geiger only in 1998. About the work: The composition features a bright orange square on a bold pink background. In the upper part of the square, the orange gradually transitions through a finely speckled color structure into an intense red hue. This subtle color gradient gives the strictly geometric composition a special depth and luminosity. The interplay of the fluorescent-looking colors creates a striking visual tension and conveys Geiger's characteristic fascination with the effect of pure color. Framing: The work is professionally and high-quality framed in an exclusive Swiss hand-made Plexiglas showcase. Dimensions of the Plexiglas showcase: approx. 67 x 61 cm About the artist: Rupprecht Geiger (1908–2009) is among the leading figures of German color-field painting and the abstract art of the 20th century. As a co-founder of the avant-garde group ZEN 49, he developed a consistently non-representational visual language in which color becomes the actual content of the image. He gained international recognition especially for his monumental red and fluorescence compositions, whose intense luminosity became his unmistakable trademark. His works fuse geometric abstraction with color theory and a nearly spiritual concept of color as light and atmosphere. Works by Rupprecht Geiger are today in the collections of major museums worldwide, including the Neues Museum in Berlin, the Museum Ludwig in Köln, and the Pinakothek der Moderne in München.
