Royal Leerdam - A.D

A remarkable cheese dome from 1939, designed by glass artist Andries Dirk Copier for the Leerdam Glass Factory / Royal Leerdam. Andries Dirk Copier was a leading figure for the Leerdam Glass Factory. The cheese dome is part of the Neerlandia service: see the last photo of the catalog from 1939. It lists this 'cheese shovel' silver-green (cheese dome). This silver-green cheese dome is the rare variant! The plate/stand has a raised edge at both ends for a good grip. The cheese dome features vertical lines in a typical Art Deco style. The handle is very distinctive. The cheese dome is in excellent condition. It has only a few small chips, see photos. This cheese dome is timeless and looks wonderful on a nicely laid weekend table or party table. For example, it looks very nice on a dressed Christmas table. Of course, this dome can also function as a butter dome or simply as a decorative design glass object or collector’s item. The cheese dome will be carefully packaged and sent by registered mail.
