Set against a black lacquered background, the dial is decorated with an elaborate pattern of brilliant-cut diamonds and contrasting champagne-coloured chronograph registers, creating the distinctive graphic composition from which the watch takes its nickname. Diamond-set hour markers further enhance the effect, making this one of the most immediately recognisable gem-set Daytona configurations of the modern era. The dial is framed by a bezel entirely set with baguette-cut diamonds, providing a more architectural contrast to the brilliant-cut stones used across the dial. Combined with the substantial 40 mm case in 18K yellow gold, the result is an unusually rich interpretation of the Daytona while retaining the familiar proportions and chronograph layout of Rolex’s iconic sports model. Particularly important on the present example is its full 18K yellow gold Oyster bracelet. Unlike versions encountered on Oysterflex, the solid gold bracelet dramatically changes both the appearance and presence of the watch, extending the yellow gold construction seamlessly from the case around the wrist. Its broad links, alternating polished and brushed surfaces and substantial weight reinforce the jewellery character of the “Eye of the Tiger”, while the matching 18K yellow gold deployant clasp completes the configuration. The self-winding calibre 4130, Rolex’s integrated chronograph movement with column wheel and vertical clutch. The mechanical architecture remains firmly rooted in the professional Daytona lineage, creating an intriguing contrast with the exceptional decorative treatment of the dial and bezel. Dating from 2024, the present reference 116598TBR combines three particularly compelling elements: the spectacular factory-set “Eye of the Tiger” dial, its baguette diamond bezel and the considerable presence of a full 18K yellow gold Oyster bracelet.
