Roche Bobois Profile Sofa by Roberto Tapinassi & Maurizio Manzoni

The Profile Sofa by Roche Bobois, designed by Roberto Tapinassi and Maurizio Manzoni, is a masterful interpretation of mid-century glamour fused with contemporary tailored precision. Its broad base platform provides a grounded and low-profile aesthetic, meticulously upholstered in a deep navy velvet that features high-relief, stitched tufting across the seat and wrap-around backrest. This rhythmic, grid-like pattern emphasizes the sofa’s voluminous comfort while maintaining a sharp, architectural edge. The plushness of the interior is thoughtfully balanced by a slender, sculptural base of dark wood, featuring tapered legs and an elegant arched stretcher that creates a sophisticated floating effect. Refined by its continuous lines and harmonious proportions, the Profile reflects contemporary design principles centered on comfort and restraint. It serves as an evocative anchor for expansive modern living spaces, blending textural opulence with a clean, disciplined silhouette that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking. Condition Notes : This sofa remains structurally sound, offering the same firm support and robust silhouette as when first made. However, the velvet upholstery displays a gentle, honest patina through light surface marks and subtle signs of wear.
