[ROBBÉ DE BEAUVEZET]. My Odyssey, or The Journal of My Return from Saintonge. A Poem for Chloé. The Hague, n.p., 1760. 8vo, red morocco, triple gold fillet, decorated spine, interior lace, gilt edges (Cuzin). First edition of this picaresque tale in four cantos, written in verse, in which the author recounts his journey from Jonzac to Orléans; one passage refers to his dinner at Rabelais’s former residence in Chinon, which, to his surprise, had been converted into a tavern. (Gay-Lemonnyer, vol. III, col. 258.) A title medallion engraved by Chedel after François Boucher, and 4 plates by Desfriches engraved by Cochin. A very rare copy with the plates in two states, including the pre-letter etching. Cohen (col. 896) cites only two copies with the etchings: the Paillet-Beraldi copy and the Montgermont copy. Ex-libris with an unidentified monogram.
