18 karat yellow gold tank ring set with 20 Old European cut diamonds of approximately 0.60 ct each, surrounded by 24 single cut diamonds with a total of about 0.12 ct. The diamonds are set in white gold pavé settings. The tank ring originated in the 1940s-1950s. Because gold became scarce during World War II, valuable jewelry was melted down into more compact, easier-to-transport objects—the tank ring was born. The wartime jewel is named after the tanks from this war period, and imitates the massive, heavy lines and rough structures of the tanks and their tracks.
