Riccardo Pellegrini (Milan, March 11, 1863 – Crescenzago, March 31, 1934) was an Italian painter. Biography Formed in Romantic Milan, he studied in Rome and Naples, under Domenico Morelli; he traveled for a long time across European countries, including England, France and Spain, the latter an important source of inspiration for the Spanish rustic subjects of many of his paintings. In Pisa, a show was dedicated to him with 19 canvases on display. His trip to Spain also inspired him in his work as an illustrator, which saw him create drawings for the major magazines of the era. Also in Spain he illustrated Cervantes' Don Quixote and Alain-René Lesage's Gil Blas. He later produced many subjects for postcards that are today collectible.
