Reliquary - Bronze - the 20th century - Holy Cross of Our...

A reliquary dating from the early 20th century, made with a finely worked bronze case. The interior is richly decorated with a complex artistic composition in the paperolles technique on a blue velvet background. At the center is placed a small cross referring to Jesus Christ (D.N.J.C. and S. Crucis), whose descriptive cartouches are applied to the sides of the cross itself. Around this central nucleus unfold six diamond-shaped reliquaries containing the following relics: Ex Tunica S. Lucas Ev. (San Luca Evangelista) S. Johannes Ev. (San Giovanni Evangelista) S. Matthæus Ev. (San Matteo Evangelista) S. Marcus Ev. (San Marco Evangelista) Ex Sepulcro The back is sealed with red guarantee threads and the original ecclesiastical seal in red wax. The reliquary does not contain human remains. This object is offered exclusively for its historical, cultural, or decorative value. No religious significance is claimed, implied, or asserted. Over time, some elements of the reliquary may have been modified or restored.
