Additionally, it features a dense and compact aggregation of small olive-green prismatic crystals, well-formed and sharp, that almost completely cover the light underlying matrix, in a specimen measuring 115x70x43 mm and weighing 222 g, which enhance its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with characteristics that exalt its natural structure and visual impact. Fassaite is a variety of clinopyroxene in the diopside-hedenbergite series, rich in aluminum and iron, whose name derives from the Val di Fassa in Trentino, where it was first described. The characteristic green color is related to the presence of iron in the crystal structure, and the mineral typically forms in skarn rocks arising from contact metamorphism between magmatic intrusions and carbonate rocks. Interestingly, very similar pyroxenes to fassaite have also been identified in the calcium- and aluminum-rich inclusions of some primitive meteorites, among the oldest materials known in the Solar System.
