RAREST Herkimer Diamond — 6.80 carats Exceptional clarity...

Exceptional natural 6.80-carat Herkimer Diamond with a particularly imposing morphology and a crystal architecture of remarkable complexity. The specimen stands out for its almost sculptural silhouette, dominated by a pronounced pyramidal termination and large natural faces that intensely catch the light. Its interior reveals a fascinating succession of reflective planes, crystalline veils, natural microfractures, and superimposed growth structures, creating spectacular visual depth. Some areas appear remarkably transparent while others concentrate a true mosaic of internal structures, giving the impression of observing several levels of crystallization inside a single piece. With 6.80 carats for only 12.7 mm, its mass, morphology, and the richness of its architecture make it a particularly unique specimen, in which every orientation reveals new details. This is a rarissime specimen of tabular quartz (biterminated), belonging to those sought-after crystallizations under the name of “Herkimer Diamond” for their natural geometry, transparency, and brilliance. Characteristics - Collection name: Herkimer Diamond - Mineralogical nature: Natural biterminated quartz - Origin: Pakistan - Weight: 6.80 carats - Dimensions: 12.7 × 11 × 9 mm - Morphology: Natural biterminated crystal, massive and highly architectural - Color: Colorless - Transparency: Transparent to locally translucent - Luster: Intensely vitreous - Crystallization: Fully natural - Terminations: Natural - Internal structure: Very complex, with veils, reflective planes, fractures, and natural growth figures - Condition: Natural, uncut - Interest: Mineral collection, crystallography, macrophotography and observation under magnification A particularly spectacular morphology This specimen commands attention thanks to its compact proportions and its highly developed termination. Its different faces form a complex geometric architecture that can evoke a deliberately faceted stone. Yet, this construction is the result of the crystal’s natural growth. Light reflects successively on its different planes, creating flashes of brightness and causing its appearance to vary considerably when viewed from different angles. A true inner crystalline universe The specimen’s richness fully reveals itself when one looks beyond its surfaces. Its interior hides a multitude of structures arranged at different depths. Some form fine, almost silvery veils; others appear as interlocked crystal planes or small reflective fractures. This superposition gives a remarkable sense of depth: the eye passes through the first transparent zones before meeting increasingly complex structures at the crystal’s core. Under magnification, the specimen becomes a miniature mineral landscape. 6.80 carats concentrated in a compact architecture With a weight of 6.80 carats and dimensions of 12.7 × 11 × 9 mm, the piece presents a particularly interesting volume. Its 9 mm thickness especially contributes to this sense of depth and allows internal structures to be observed on multiple levels. This combination of volume, partial transparency, and complex crystallization gives the specimen a presence far greater than its dimensions might suggest. A visible geological story The internal peculiarities of a natural crystal bear traces of the conditions encountered during its growth. Variations in the environment, interruptions and resumptions of growth, or internal stresses can leave behind veils, fractures, and distinctive figures. The result here is an architecture almost impossible to reproduce exactly: each structure belongs to the specimen’s own history. It is precisely this singularity that makes complex crystals so fascinating for collectors: two individuals may share a generally comparable morphology, but never exactly the same internal history. The history of the “Herkimer Diamonds” The name “Herkimer Diamond” historically derives from the famous biterminated crystals discovered in Herkimer County and surrounding areas in New York. Their remarkable brilliance, transparency, and naturally faceted morphology led to their historical comparison with diamond. They have gradually become iconic specimens among mineral collectors. Biterminated crystallizations with comparable morphologies also exist in other parts of the world. The historical name should thus be distinguished from the specimen’s actual geographic provenance, which is precisely stated in its characteristics. A unique collectible piece This specimen brings together several particularly interesting visual qualities: a powerful morphology, a weight of 6.80 carats, broad natural faces, beautiful transparency, and especially an extremely developed internal architecture. Its interest fully reveals itself when viewed from different orientations. One face can offer almost transparent insight into the heart of the crystal, while a simple change of angle reveals a succession of reflections and structures previously invisible. A true natural mineral sculpture of 6.80 carats, with a geometric exterior protecting a remarkably complex interior architecture.
