Ca. AD 1 - 300. A gold hairpin with a long, slender, tapering shaft surmounted by a figure of Cupid. The nude, winged figure stands with his legs apart and head turned slightly to the side, his lowered arms enveloped in the folds of a mantle draped behind his body. Size: 45mm x 10mm; Weight: 2.3g Provenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in early 2000s in Belgium; previously in 1970s European collection.
