Rare orange crocoite

From our selection of collectible minerals, we propose a rare and splendid matrix with Crocoite crystals from the Adelaide Mine, Dundas, in Tasmania. Moreover, it is characterized by numerous orange-red intense prismatic crystals, arranged in crossed groups on the dark limonitic matrix, with good transparency and vitreous luster, which enhance its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that enhance its natural structure and visual impact. Crocoite is lead chromate (PbCrO4) whose intense orange-red color derives from the presence of chromium in the crystal structure; it was from specimens of this mineral that in 1797 the French chemist Louis-Nicolas Vauquelin first isolated the element chromium. The Dundas mining district, in western Tasmania, is the world's most famous historic locality for Crocoite, capable of producing prismatic crystals of exceptional aesthetic quality, so much so that it is considered the mineral symbol of the state of Tasmania. This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, displays, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, also in the context of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, except for rare exceptions always indicated in the description. The photographs are taken with professional lighting to best enhance colors and details; however, slight tonal variations may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
