Rare. Magnificent antique bedspread

This bed cover is, without a doubt, a piece worthy of a museum – a true work of textile art. It stands as an authentic tribute to the know-how and talent of the embroiderers of the late 19th – early 20th century, an era when every stitch was done by hand with remarkable precision and elegance. Entirely handmade in pure cotton, it showcases refined work through several embroidery techniques, drawn work, and lace – a genuine homage to traditional craftsmanship. Originally conceived as a wedding piece, this bedspread embodies romantic elegance and the skills of yesteryear. The condition is good, especially given the piece’s age. It may, however, bear very light marks of time or use that may have escaped my notice, without diminishing the beauty or authenticity of the bedspread. This bedspread can also be transformed into a sumptuous wall hanging or an elegant tablecloth, according to your tastes and interior. It’s not just a simple bedspread – it’s a piece of history, made with love. May present small flaws, which can be easily repaired. It fully deserves your time and attention. This magnificent bedspread was discovered during a private sale held at a château in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, a region rich in history and textile traditions. It is probably a carefully preserved wedding piece, passed down from generation to generation. Dimensions: 226 cm x 196 cm To fully appreciate the motifs of this bedspread, I recommend enlarging the photo.
