Rare Large Cuaba Cuban Cigar Advertising Wall Plaque –...

An impressive and highly decorative large-format vintage advertising wall plaque dedicated to Cuaba, the prestigious Cuban cigar brand introduced by Habanos S.A. in 1996, internationally recognised for its exceptional handmade Doble Figurado cigars. This unusual piece combines traditional craftsmanship, richly textured materials and colourful Cuban tobacco imagery, creating an attractive example of vintage cigar advertising and tobacciana. The plaque comes from an Italian specialist tobacconist dealing in premium cigars, tobacco products and smoking accessories. The Cuaba Heritage Established in 1996, Cuaba was created to revive the historic Doble Figurado cigar shape, a sophisticated format tapered at both ends that requires exceptional skill from master cigar rollers. The brand takes its name from a native Cuban plant traditionally used by the Taíno people to light tobacco during ceremonial occasions. Cuaba cigars are entirely handmade using carefully selected Cuban tobacco, and the brand has established a distinctive reputation among enthusiasts of premium Habanos. Design and Craftsmanship Measuring approximately 77 × 30 × 2 cm, the plaque has a particularly striking elongated silhouette, with gracefully curved upper and lower contours and rounded, tapered extremities. Its unusual shape beautifully echoes the characteristic profile of Cuaba's celebrated Doble Figurado cigars. The construction features a carefully assembled combination of leather, suede, a rigid supporting structure and individually applied decorative elements. The outer borders are finished in warm brown leather, complemented by elaborate openwork leather ornamentation featuring repeated geometric cut-outs and delicate scalloped patterns. Two large lateral sections are covered in deep olive-green suede, creating an elegant contrast with the surrounding natural tan and brown leather details. Each lateral panel is further embellished with a centrally positioned decorative leather strip featuring intricate perforated edges. The craftsmanship is particularly attractive, with the different materials, colours and raised applications creating a richly textured, almost three-dimensional appearance. Central Advertising Illustration The centre is dominated by a beautifully preserved, vividly coloured illustration on glossy printed material, featuring the distinctive Cuaba emblem in gold lettering against a deep red oval background. Below the emblem is a detailed Cuban tobacco plantation, with lush green tobacco leaves, tropical vegetation, palm trees and a traditional rural building in the distance. In the foreground, a bundle of harvested cigars or tobacco rolls, a tobacco-cutting knife and a heraldic shield featuring the historic symbols of Havana complete the composition. An elegant golden-yellow ribbon bears the inscription HABANA, while the words HABANA-CUBA appear beneath the illustration. The rich green, red, gold and blue colours remain remarkably vivid, making the central image particularly eye-catching. Condition The plaque is preserved in very attractive vintage condition, retaining its authentic patina and original decorative character. The central glossy illustration is exceptionally well preserved, with bright colours and clearly defined details. The leather and suede elements display natural ageing and minor signs of previous handling and display, consistent with the object's age and handcrafted construction. The decorative leather applications and borders remain visually impressive, contributing to the authentic character of the piece. Please examine the detailed photographs carefully, as they provide an accurate representation of its condition.
