Rack - Art Deco wall-mounted coat rack in oak with mirror...

An stepped crest crowns this Art Deco wall coat rack, with three rods beside a mirror with a faceted edge. Three round bars form the hat shelf; below hang four hooks with wooden knob heads. The oak has a warm red-brown stain and an open grain. In the hall the mirror is at eye level and the shelf catches the hat. Prefer not to wait? This piece is also directly available for purchase via Buy now. Description: A rectangular frame with a protruding crest with stepped shoulders. On the left a mirror in its own frame, on the right three narrow bars. Wooden consoles support the three rods of the hat shelf. The lower rail carries four metal hooks on screwed-on mounting plates. Two hanging eyes on top make hanging easy. The oak is recognizable by the open grain and the brand rays in the lower rail. The same type, with mirror and hat shelf, sold on Catawiki in 2026 for EUR 200. About the maker: In the Netherlands, in the twenties and thirties, oak coat racks with hat shelves were made, straight-lined and with stepped details. They follow the line of Art Deco and the Amsterdam School. Thus the hall received a mirror. In interior design: In a narrow hall, catching the morning light, the red-brown oak gives depth to the white wall; the mirror doubles the space. Follow DECADERS Gallery via the heart next to my name above: every week new pieces of Art Deco furniture and interwar ceramics, you see them first. ——— Condition: Good, with signs of use appropriate for age. Lower rail: a light wear spot right of center. Mirror: light stains along the bottom edge. One wooden knob is missing, on the fourth hook. No cracks, breaks or replaced parts observed. See the images. In one glance: Material: oak, red-brown stained, with metal hooks and wooden knobs; mirror glass Dimensions and weight: height 32 cm x width 64 cm x depth 20 cm, 1930 grams Brand: without factory mark; attributed by form, technique and décor, see Description and sources Dating: ca. 1920–1940 Origin: from a private collection, Netherlands Description and sources: Attributed to Dutch interwar furniture production in oak, in the line of Art Deco and the Amsterdam School. The stepped crest, the bars and the consoles carry that attribution. An Amsterdam School coat rack in oak with upper shelf (Catawiki, ca. 1920–1930) shows the same construction.
