Arabic manuscript on two kinds of paper, one highly burnished, 301ff. plus three fly-leaves, gilt paper-edges each folio with 15ll. black naskh, red tajwid notation, variously ornamented gold, blue, and red roundel verse markers, set within broad gold borders with black rules, the margins plain with nisf , hizb , and other notes written with different colours, illuminated and pricked floral devices to mark divisions, catchwords, gold cartouches left blank for sura headings, opening bifolio heavily decorated with rococo-style illumination framing 7ll. of naskh in clouds reserved against a pricked gold ground, colophon signed and dated within gold and polychrome illuminated border, closing with dua ', in contemporaneous brown morocco with flap decorated with stamped gilt designs, a half moon in the centre of the doublures
