Ancient Persian Bath Kettle (Hammam) – 19th c. Qajar, Engraved, 27 cm Item description: For sale a beautiful, original bath kettle (hammam) from old Persia (present-day Iran), dated to the 19th century (Qajar dynasty). The item represents exceptional Middle Eastern craftsmanship, most likely from a historic metalwork center such as Isfahan. The kettle is made of copper and brass, originally traditionally tinned. The entire exterior surface is covered with an exquisitely crafted, hand-engraved and repoussé work (Ghalamzani technique). Around the vessel run decorative arches, in which figurative depictions of kings/courtiers in traditional robes are shown, surrounded by dense and precise botanical ornamentation. The vessel is equipped with an original, massive, and profiled brass carrying handle for transport. • Dimensions: height 27 cm, diameter 27 cm (large, very representative specimen) • Condition: Very good, cabinet-quality authenticity. Distinctive, deep relief, natural wear of the tinning exposing copper. Inside preserved a beautiful, aged green patina confirming the age and history of the item.
