Precious Vintage Ring with Colombian Emerald & Diamonds in Gold, Circa 1980

In recent decades, numerous new gemstone deposits have been discovered and developed around the globe through luck and calculated research. In Africa in particular, many gemstones have since been mined that were previously only found in other parts of the world and usually only in small quantities. Rubies, for example, are no longer only found in Burma, but also in Madagascar and Mozambique, opals are no longer only found in Australia, but also in Ethiopia and emeralds are no longer only found in Colombia, but also in Zimbabwe and Zambia. These new deposits often produce very beautiful stones. And yet it is something else to own a gemstone from one of the classic sources. The colour and beauty of emeralds from Colombia is unmatched. And last but not least, the long history and tradition of this special tropical treasure is only associated with such a stone. This ring demonstrates the special quality of such a stone. The design showcases a particularly beautiful emerald from Colombia between two sparkling clusters of brilliant-cut diamonds. The stone is shaped in the classic emerald cut, i.e. as an octagon in a step cut, and weighs more than two and a half carats. The stone is therefore not too large, but it is very clear and has a magnificent color that transports us to the rainforests where it was once discovered. The clarity of the emerald has been slightly improved by treating it with a moderate amount of oil. The view goes deep into the stone The yellow gold setting speaks the design language of the late Art Deco style of the economic miracle era. The stones are raised high above the finger and set airily next to each other. Nevertheless, they are not isolated, but form a compact, powerful, sculpturally designed flower. The ring was probably created in Germany. We were able to acquire the ring in the Rhineland. The independent expert opinion on the quality and origin of the gemstones is enclosed with the ring.
