Precious Vintage Necklace With Colombian Emerald & Diamonds, c. 1975

Perhaps the summer was never meant to end when, sometime around the mid-1970s, this necklace was purchased. For the abstracted, modern design has captured the sunlight, in a green, glowing emerald, around which brilliant cut diamonds sit like shimmering dew, reflecting the light with every movement. The faceted emerald in of intsensitive colour. It comes from Colombia, which has always been the preferred source of precious emeralds. Two independent appraisals have confirmed its quality. It was found that it was only minor oiled. The transparent stone weighs about 12.50 ct. The emerald is held by four prongs, which are restrained in their white gold colouration, making the emerald the eye-catcher of the piece of jewellery. The frame of diamonds blends almost seamlessly into the necklace itself, which is also set with wonderful white diamonds. Thus, the piece of jewellery appears to be made almost entirely of light. The elegantly curved design and the white gold workmanship let us date the necklace to the 1970s. It is in very good condition, the pendant can be detached from the necklace so that it can also be worn on a fine chain.
