Pol Bury (1922–2005) – Ramollissements de Mondrian – Original color lithograph – Derrière le Miroir no. 250 – Maeght, 1982 – 56 cm × 38 cm Pol Bury (1922–2005) Ramollissements de Mondrian – Homage to Piet Mondrian Original color lithograph by the Belgian artist Pol Bury, a major figure of kinetic art, here developing one of his famous Ramollissements de Mondrian. The composition reclaims the geometric rigor characteristic of Piet Mondrian, with red, blue and yellow fields separated by black lines, gradually subjected to a spectacular deformation. Presented as a sequence of 24 variations, the initial grid seems to soften, undulate, and metamorphose. Original color lithograph. Derrière le Miroir, Éditions Maeght, Paris. DLM no. 250, a special issue devoted to Aimé Maeght, November 1982. Sheet dimensions 56 × 38 cm. Double-page presentation with the original centerfold, in accordance with its publication. The accompanying verso pages also include two important black-and-white photographic portraits of Georges Braque and Henri Matisse. The detail photograph explicitly shows the printed inscription, “Pol Bury, lithographie originale.” This indication confirms that the work is presented by the publisher as an original lithograph, and not merely a photographic reproduction of the work. Very good overall condition considering its age. The edition centerfold is present. Some slight traces or signs of handling may be observed on the margins; please refer carefully to the photographs, which are an integral part of the description.
