Plath (Sylvia) The Colossus and other poems, first edition, [one of 500 copies], Kenneth Allott's copy with his ink ownership inscription to front free endpaper, neat pencil cross markings to head of poems "Metaphors" and "Frog Autumn", original cloth, slight bumping to spine tips, dust-jacket priced at 15s., light browning to spine, minor chipping to spine and corner tips, some light marking and faint surface soiling to panels, a crisp and excellent example overall, 8vo, William Heinemann, 1960. *** An excellent association copy of Plath's first collection of poetry, the only book published under her own name during her lifetime. The poet Kenneth Allott (1912-73) selected two of Plath's poems ("Metaphors" and "Frog Autumn") for inclusion in the 1962 expanded edition of The Penguin Book of Contemporary Verse, making Plath one of only two Americans (along with T.S. Eliot) to feature in the anthology.
