Astronomical Armillary Sphere - Pietro Scattaglia - 1785-1805 approx. Refined and fascinating original copper engraving (etching) depicting an astronomical armillary sphere (Table 1 / Plate 1st), dating from the late 18th century (period 1784-1805). The work is part of the famous Padua edition (Typografia del Seminario) of the Encyclopédie Méthodique. The plate was masterfully engraved by the renowned Venetian engraver Pietro Scattaglia (1739-1810), as shown by the signature "Scattaglia dir." at the lower right beneath the plate number (71).
