Interesting late 19th-century male portrait, depicting a bearded man with a wide-brimmed black hat and a dark suit, characterized by an intense expression and an austere and evocative atmosphere—Dark Academia. The palette is dominated by brown, black, and dark green tones, with a skilled contrast between the illuminated face and the deep background. The work presents an aesthetically strongly evocative character, today particularly appreciated also in interiors inspired by the Dark Academia style. The painting bears a signature in the upper left, apparently legible as Delhaye??
