Phoenician Glass Malta – Large Multicoloured Art Glass...

Phoenician Glass Malta – Large Multicoloured Art Glass Paperweight A striking and substantial hand-blown art glass paperweight by Phoenician Glass, Malta, decorated with an exceptionally rich combination of blue, turquoise, white, amber, yellow, green and red glass. The paperweight has a distinctive sculptural form, with a rounded, bulbous body and a raised spherical upper section, all formed as one continuous piece of glass. The interior contains elaborate flowing and feathered glass trails, creating an almost landscape-like composition. The lower section is dominated by layers of blue, turquoise and white glass which produce a highly effective wave or sea-like effect, while the upper area contains dense multicoloured trails and inclusions with striking variations in colour and texture. The piece is particularly attractive when viewed against a light source, revealing the considerable depth and complexity of the internal glass decoration. The underside is engraved "Phoenician Malta", identifying the maker as Phoenician Glass of Malta. Phoenician Glass is known for its highly colourful Maltese art glass, produced using elaborate internal decoration and layered/trailing techniques.
