PHILIPPINES. Philippines - Colombia. 8 Reales, ND (1834-37). Manila

PHILIPPINES. Philippines - Colombia. 8 Reales, ND (1834-37). Manila Mint. Isabel II. NGC EF Details--Cleaned; Countermark: EF Standard. KM-109; Basso-56; PNM#6-199; PNM#21-VIII-28; Cacho-IX-CS-006; Gil-5-2-2. Issued by decree of 20 December 1834, suppressed 31 March 1837 (by decree of 1 February 1836). Countermark: Type VI, crowned Y.II. in incuse circle. Applied to the obverse of a 1835-Ba RS Colombia Republic 8 Reales (KM-89). This wholesome looking example displays rich mottled patina with even wear. The countermark is slightly uneven, but exhibits clear diagnostics making attribution easy. The opposing side of the countermark features faint remnants of an incuse mirror image of a previous countermark. These incuse impressions can be traced throughout the series and are the result of an errant F.7."0" or Y.II. hitting the striking surface leaving an impression on the anvil adding an highly interesting characteristic. Close inspection reveals evidence of a past cleaning, now subdued and somewhat attractive. Overall a presentable example of the type with an interesting characteristic that is sure to excite academic collectors. Estimate: $5,000 - $7,000. Click here for certification details from NGC. 1834-37年菲律賓-哥倫比亞壹圓銀幣。
