Rare complete volume with the two folded plates and the three engravings. "Les Memoires de messire Philippe de Comines" - 1682 Edition edited by Denys Godefroy Publisher - A. La Haye Chez Arnout Leers Complete edition with 3 portraits engraved in copper and 2 folded genealogical plates. Pages 600 + 16 pages "Table of contents" On the first and second pages, beautiful handwritten annotations in Latin, probably by a humanist between the late 17th century and the early 18th. Hardcover binding with applied paper "à la toile d'araignée" marbled brown. At the back, a handwritten label COMINES in cursive, same hand as the internal notes. In very good condition, compact volume, inner pages with normal foxing as is typical of 19th-century paper. One folded plate divided into two parts Small loss of marbled paper lower left part of the cover and spine. Philippe de Commynes was the most important chronicler of the Middle Ages. This volume covers the period from 1464 to 1498, from King Louis XI to Charles VIII. Even today, as the work is still studied, it has never lost its charm and its popularity. See photo.
