Paul Désiré Trouillebert (1829–1900) Painter of the Barbizon School – Master of poetic landscapes Paul Désiré Trouillebert is one of the great representatives of the Barbizon School. A pupil of Ernest Hébert and Charles Jalabert, he exhibited at the Salon from 1865 and quickly established himself as a major 19th‑century landscape painter. His work, often likened to that of Corot, is distinguished by a soft light, misty atmospheres, and a silent poetry that today appeals to international collectors. Trouillebert worked between Paris and the banks of the Loire, where he painted from his boat‑studio landscapes of great delicacy: groves, rivers, calm horizons and rural scenes bathed in argent light. His works are kept in several reference museums, including the Musée d’Orsay, the Walters Art Museum, and the Musée Fesch.
