Paolo Masi (1933–2026) - Enamel on Corrugated Cardboard - 1993

Paolo Masi (Italy, 1933–2026) 1996 Original work by Paolo Masi created in 1996 in enamel on corrugated and layered boards, technique closely tied to the artist's research into cardboard and its material structure. The work consists of multiple corrugated cardboard elements treated and layered, with chromatic interventions on the surface. The stratification of the boards gives the piece a marked material and three-dimensional component, visible also laterally. Technique: enamels on corrugated and layered boards Year: 1996 Dimensions: 50 × 35 × 3.5 cm Signature: signed and dated on the back Documentation: authentic by the artist on photo Presentation: work kept inside a plexiglass display case Provenance: Studio d’Arte Borromeo, Auction no. 341, lot 17, August 4, 2026. The work presents itself in generally good condition. The irregularities of the surface, edges, and the cardboard structure are consistent with the nature of the material and with the technique used. Paolo Masi was one of the leading figures in the Italian artistic research developed from the late 20th century around the surface, matter, and experimentation with materials. Corrugated cardboard takes on a central role in his production, becoming itself a structural and visual part of the work. Provenance and documentation: work purchased at auction and accompanied by the corresponding purchase documentation. The work will be shipped inside its own plexiglass display case, accompanied by the authentication on photo. Professional careful packaging and tracked and insured shipment.
