Title: Paolo Camporese – "The Red Unicorn and Other Stories" (2026) Description An original work by Paolo Camporese, signed and dated 2026 at the bottom left: "The Red Unicorn and Other Stories", acrylic on canvas, 54 cm × 50 cm. On an olive green background with warm glazes, shifting to ochre and pinkish tones at the bottom, an intimate universe of signs and fantastic creatures moves. Dense, sinuous black shapes, almost stylized birds, dialogue with flat patches of orange, cobalt blue, violet, red and green. Around them, thin, nerve-like lines draw zig-zags, filaments, branches, and tiny organisms with antennae, lashes and bright dots. The title invites the viewer to search among the figures for the red unicorn: every corner of the canvas guards its own story, and the eye wanders among apparitions, encounters and small enigmas. The tone is playful and poetic, with an imprint that recalls Surrealist tradition and the biomorphic abstraction of the 20th century, reinterpreted with a personal language. The composition, vertical and rhythmic, is balanced by a bold use of color: the earthy tones of the background bring out the vibrant hues and the deep blacks of the figures. Curriculum vitae Paolo Camporese lives and works in Padua and has for several years devoted himself to sculpture, the material primarily used being terracotta. He learned to model in the 1990s in his hometown at the studio of a sculptor, enlarging sculptures of famous authors (F. Lèger, S. Dalì). The use of glazes and engobes he learned at a ceramic workshop in the city of Este.
