A cohesive series of four DIN A1 annual calendars by the renowned Berlin graphic designers Nicolaus Ott and Bernard Stein from the years 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1993 is offered. All four sheets are signed in the bottom right corner by Ott + Stein. The precise arrangement of hundreds of numbers and letters demonstrates great typographic craftsmanship from a time when layout programs could not automatically produce such complex compositions. Ott + Stein were among the renowned German graphic and poster designers of their generation. In addition to the Neue Nationalgalerie, they worked for numerous important cultural institutions, including the Bauhaus-Archiv Berlin, the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, the Berlinische Galerie, the German Historical Museum, the Museum of Arts and Crafts Hamburg, the Kunstsammlungen in Weimar, as well as theaters, orchestras, and international cultural organizations. Today their posters are held in important museum collections. In 2008, the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin presented the thirty-year joint work of Ott + Stein in a comprehensive retrospective. The sheets are in age-appropriate condition. There are light waviness, minor edge and handling marks, and occasional surface abrasion on the black paper.
