Christofle – Orfèvrerie Gallia – Art Deco Silver-Plated Sailing Boat Double Salt Cellar – Original Presentation Box – France, circa 1925–1930 An exceptional and highly decorative French Art Deco sailing boat by the prestigious silversmith Christofle, produced under its celebrated Orfèvrerie Gallia collection. Dating from approximately 1925–1930, this charming nautical table accessory combines the elegance of French silverware with the innovative design of the Art Deco period. The silver-plated sailing boat features a beautifully stylised hull decorated with fine horizontal lines, a polished upright sail and two original removable glass salt cellars, each accompanied by its original silver-plated spoon. The sleek silhouette, geometric detailing and polished surfaces perfectly capture the sophisticated nautical aesthetic of the 1920s and 1930s. Orfèvrerie Gallia & Christofle The prestigious French silverware house Christofle was founded in Paris in 1830 by Charles Christofle and became internationally renowned for its exceptional silver-plated tableware and decorative objects. The Gallia collection, introduced around 1900, became particularly celebrated for its innovative designs and artistic creativity. During the Art Deco period, Gallia produced a fascinating range of imaginative table accessories, combining functionality with elegant sculptural forms. Hallmarks & Authenticity The piece bears the O. GALLIA maker's mark, identifying it as a genuine production of Orfèvrerie Gallia. The Gallia rooster emblem, associated with the historic French silverware collection, is also beautifully reproduced in gold on the interior of the original presentation box. The original silver-plated components and fitted presentation case underline the authenticity and collectible character of this charming ensemble. Original Presentation Box Particularly attractive is the original fitted Gallia presentation case, with its distinctive green patterned exterior, olive-green fabric interior and gold-coloured Gallia rooster emblem. The survival of the original box, together with the glass inserts and matching spoons, makes this a particularly desirable collector's ensemble. Condition Very good antique condition, with a beautiful silver-plated finish. Some oxidation spots are visible on the interior bottom of the boat, caused by previous contact with salt. The original glass inserts show a few very small flea bites along their edges. These minor imperfections are consistent with the age and original use of the piece. Please examine the photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description.
