Rare High end 3-head deck with all metal housing The Onkyo TA-2060 is a high-quality, vintage three-head hi-fi cassette deck, manufactured by the Japanese company Onkyo between 1981 and 1984. At the time, the model was renowned for its excellent build quality and advanced technology—notably its direct-drive motor and the manual "Accubias" system. Fully working order. New idler wheel installed. Heads cleaned and demagnetized Speed set correct Sounds perfect! Azimuth checked correct Contacts cleaned Key Specifications • Heads (3-Head System): Equipped with three separate heads (a combination record/playback head and an erase head). This allows for "off-tape" monitoring, enabling you to listen to the recording quality in real-time as it is being captured onto the tape. • Drive Mechanism: Features a reliable Direct Drive (DD) motor for the capstan, paired with a DC motor for fast-forward and rewind functions. This ensures highly stable tape transport with a low wow and flutter rating of just 0.04%. • Tape Compatibility: Supports Normal (Type I), Chrome (Type II), and Metal (Type IV) cassettes. • Frequency Response: Ranges from 20 Hz to 21,000 Hz when using Metal-type tapes. • Noise Reduction: Includes Dolby B, as well as the—at the time, relatively rare—original Dolby HX (Headroom Extension) system, which helps prevent high-frequency saturation during recording. • Accubias: Features a manual adjustment system that allows you to fine-tune the bias (pre-magnetization) to perfectly match the specific brand or type of cassette being used. Physical properties • Dimensions: 418 x 120 x 330 mm • Weight: 6.5 kg • Color: Primarily released in a classic silver finish, featuring analog VU meters and LED indicators. + Will be carefully packaged and shipped by registered mail
