Novum Testamentum Graecum - 1756

Bible. - Novum Testamentum Graecum ad Mastrichtianum so printed that its page layout corresponds to the pages of the German Cansteinian edition. Second edition. Halle, Waisenhaus 1756. With mounted title vignette. 308 pp., 2 leaves. Decoratively brown leather binding of the period with rich spine gilding, front and back flyleaves, raised bands, and gilt edges. With handsome colored paper endleaves. 16 x 9.5 cm. Beautiful Greek edition of the New Testament, based on the textual criticism by the jurist and theologian Gerhard von Mastricht (1639–1721), which first appeared in 1711 in Amsterdam and is known for its critical apparatus. The addition "ita expressum ut paginae paginis editionis Germanicae Cansteinianae respondeant" means that the Greek text was printed so exactly that its page layout precisely matched the pages of the German standard Bible edition of the Canstein Bible Institute. This facilitated theologians and students in the parallel comparison between the Greek original text and the German translation. - Fine copy!"} }{
