(◊) NORWAY. Regerings commission. 100 Rigsdaler, 1.10.1807. P-A10. PMG Fine 12 Net. Severed & Reattached, Paper Damage. Christina issue. Norway had been in a real union with Denmark for centuries, but various wars, including the Gunboat War, would lead to its breakup in the early 19th century. On August 24, 1807, it was announced that a temporary government commission would be established in Christiana (today known as Oslo), as communications between Norway and Denmark had been negatively impacted as a result of the war. A few months later, this commission issued its own banknotes, of which this represents the highest denomination. Scarce in any grade and seldom offered for sale. PMG Comments "Severed & Reattached, Paper Damage." (◊) This lot has been consigned from the European Union and will be shipped or picked up from our Denmark office once the auction concludes.
