Tutte le aste / Tappeti, Tappezzerie & Tessuti / No Reserve - Room Size Antique Persian Sarouk Farahan Rug 11 ft 7
Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs No Reserve - Two Antique Persian Sarouk Farahan Rugs - Circa 1880–1900 Size: 4 ft 10 in x 3 ft 3 in (1.47 m x 0.99 m)+11 ft 7 in x 8 ft 4 in (3.53 m x 2.54 m) Provenance: Property of a Nashville collector An unusual two-piece offering of antique Sarouk Farahan rugs, including one room-size carpet and a smaller related example. Both display the disciplined medallion drawing, richly layered borders, and deep nineteenth-century coloration associated with the Sarouk-Farahan weaving tradition. The contrast in scale makes the group particularly versatile: the larger rug may anchor a principal room while the smaller piece can create continuity elsewhere in the interior. Offered together without reserve, they present considerable decorative and collecting value. Condition Request Condition Report Lot # 579 A Larger Sarouk The pile is generally low but even, contributing to a pleasing age-softened patina. Both ends have been reduced and secured. The side selvages are in good order. Within the field there is a small area of foundation loss, approximately 1.2 x 0.4 inches, with missing warps and wefts requiring restoration. This lot is clean and floor ready. Lot # 579B In overall good condition. One end is not fully secured and would benefit from restoration. Along one side border there are several localized splits consistent with dryness and age-related brittleness of the foundation. Despite these condition issues, the carpet presents well overall and retains strong decorative character.
