NO RESERVE PRICE - Menade che stringe una pantera - Vase...

Refined hand-made terracotta amphora, crafted and painted by hand, inspired by the great tradition of ancient Greek ceramic art. This piece stands out for the extraordinary richness of figural details and for the harmonious chromatic contrast between the light background and the tones of black, red, and purple. On the main side, the body of the vase features a dynamic Dionysian scene: a Maenad in motion, clothed in richly draped garments finely incised and covered by the typical mottled skin (nebris), and she grips a felid to herself, a classic attribute of the rites dedicated to the god Dionysus. The neck of the vase is embellished with the profile bust of a crowned female figure, while a refined meander band separates the two decorative registers. The rear of the piece develops on a purely decorative register, dominated by a large and elegant stylized palmette on the body and by a double-spiral motif on the neck. The two shaped handles and the solid molded base complete the slender form of the object. The photos are an integral part of the description.
