"The Dream Sentinel" This work is an exploration of interspecies relationships and magical symbiosis between the domestic realm and the natural world. In a playful reversal of traditional predator-prey roles, it presents a mottled cat and a bird in a state of contemplative calm and psychic connection. It is not a tense encounter, but a silent dialogue in a dreamlike space. The cat acts as a sentinel of the night, while the bird is the confidant that brings stories from other skies. The piece materializes as acrylic on canvas, but with an execution that prioritizes the fluidity of watercolor, taking advantage of the malleability of highly diluted acrylic. The work sits at the intersection of contemporary illustration and folk art. The decorative patterns of dots and concentric shapes on the bird and the cat echo folk art, where repetition and symmetry play symbolic and ritual roles.
