iek van der Plas Katwijk aan Zee 1954 Oil on panel 18 by 24 cm signed. Very nice little work by Niek van der Plas. The painter Niek van der Plas grew up in Katwijk aan Zee, as the eldest son in a family of four children. The fishing village where the old white church, the sea and the dunes occupy a prominent place is also found in many of his paintings. Niek began drawing at a young age, encouraged by his father. In 1966 he was nominated as a student at the Famous Artist School in the United States. Van der Plas is a colorist. He preferably works with warm colors. His oil paintings thereby acquire a French atmosphere. The paintings are appreciated by a broad audience in domestic and foreign markets.
