Born in 1958 in Ben Tre, an authentic village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work stands out for a singular fusion between Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a young age, he was fascinated by the rural architecture of his surroundings, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, the shadows cast by water palms — all elements that would become the foundation of his visual language. Having always lived in his native region, Nguyen Robert developed, over the decades, a deeply contemporary, modern, and decidedly architectural style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while preserving a poetic sensibility rooted in Vietnamese culture. His dual Franco-Vietnamese heritage enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and the boldness of contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul infuses gentleness, spirituality, and fluidity into his works. The result is a pictorial universe where modernity meets the timeless, where geometry dialogues with light, creating paintings of great visual power. Renowned for his ability to transform daily life into abstract landscapes, Nguyen Robert is today considered one of the distinctive voices of contemporary Delta Mekong painting. He continues his work in his Ben Tre studio, surrounded by the landscapes that shaped his identity, and continues to exhibit in several galleries in Asia and Europe, appealing to collectors and art lovers seeking deeply modern, structured, and vibrant works.
