Born in 1958 in Ben Tre, an authentic village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work stands out for a singular fusion of Asian traditions with Western artistic influences. From a young age, he was fascinated by the rural architecture of his surroundings, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, the shadows cast by water palms—elements that would form the basis of his visual language. Having always lived in his native region, Nguyen Robert over the decades developed a deeply contemporary, modern, and architecture-driven style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while preserving a poetic sensibility tied to Vietnamese culture. His dual Franco-Vietnamese heritage enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and the boldness of contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul lends softness, spirituality, and fluidity to his works.
