His opponents nicknamed him "Dennis the Menace" or "The Worm" because he wrapped his body around his opponent like an anaconda. Dennis Rodman grew up in modest circumstances in South Oak Cliff in Dallas, and at first it did not look as if he would one day become a basketball star, because he was simply too small. He dropped out of school and kept afloat with odd jobs. As he shot up in height, he earned a sports scholarship at the University of Oklahoma and drew scouts' attention. His first teams were the Detroit Pistons from 1986 to 1993, with whom he won the championship in 1989 and 1990. He then began his victorious march through the NBA. He moved to the San Antonio Spurs, and in the 1995/96 season he joined the Chicago Bulls. In 1998 he moved to the Los Angeles Lakers, and in the 1999/2000 season he played for the Dallas Mavericks. In total, Rodman led the NBA in rebounds seven times, and he was honored twice with the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award. The 2.01-meter-tall man is regarded as one of the best defenders and rebounders in NBA history. Dennis Rodman ended his career with the Dallas Mavericks in 2000. In 2011, he finally rose to basketball immortality, earning his place in the Hall of Fame. ---
