Natural petrified wood as a sphere – intense grain with...

This impressive sphere of petrified wood combines the original structure of ancient tree material with an unusually vibrant color palette. The typical grain of the wood is clearly preserved and runs in dynamic, sometimes flowing lines across the entire surface – a fascinating insight into grown structures that have been mineralized over millions of years. In terms of color, the piece displays a particularly intense mix of deep red, warm brown and copper tones as well as dark, almost black areas. In between, light, sometimes cream-colored and slightly transparent zones run, adding extra depth to the overall image. The grain appears, at times, almost as if painted with a brush and creates impressive visual movement within the stone. Fine natural lines and nodules traverse the surface and emphasize the authentic character of this material, without disturbing the harmonious overall effect. The high-quality polish brings the colors out boldly and provides a glossy surface that softly reflects the light. Through the combination of clearly recognizable wood structure, intense coloring, and the uniform sphere shape, this becomes a particularly expressive and rare collector’s piece with strong decorative presence. Petrified wood has traditionally been associated with durability and grounding—qualities that are subtly reflected in the calm, powerful aura of this exceptional sphere.. Extraordinary Quartz Hand Polished Sphere of Petrified Wood Weight: 2002,11 g Size: 117mm Treatment: None Origin: Madagascar It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were little by little replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone : there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks. Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood : the silicon. And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language.
